Honesty at ILCSD
At Indian Lake Central School, we take great pride in fostering strong character among our students. This month, we celebrate honesty, a fundamental value that builds trust, strengthens relationships, and creates a positive school culture. From our youngest learners to our middle schoolers, honesty shines throughout our classrooms and beyond.
Our journey in learning honesty begins in Pre-K, where students like Nathaniel Poissant work hard to tell the truth, even when it's difficult. Nathaniel understands that honesty helps build trust with his teachers and friends, and we are proud of his efforts!
In Kindergarten, students begin to recognize the importance of truthfulness in their everyday actions. Theo Boya has already set an excellent example, always returning found items, admitting mistakes, and speaking the truth—even when it means taking responsibility for his actions.
Students like Amelia Priest and Thomas Sawyer demonstrate honesty differently in second grade. Amelia is open with her peers, unafraid to express her feelings, and always takes responsibility for her actions. Thomas is known for his unwavering truthfulness, always telling the truth no matter the situation—even if it means facing consequences.
Moving into third grade, Caleb Alteri has earned the admiration of his classmates for his honesty. Whether reporting his progress in Reflex, taking responsibility for unfinished homework, or ensuring fairness in the classroom, Caleb sets a high standard for integrity.
In fourth grade, both Benny Lawrence and Sophia have shown exceptional honesty. Benny always does the right thing, staying true to his values in every situation. Sophia's unwavering commitment to honesty, even when it might lead to consequences, is a testament to the integrity of our future generation. Her dedication to telling the truth is a wonderful example for others.
As students mature, honesty becomes an even more essential part of their character. In fifth grade, their peers recognize Leandra Gebo and Kylee Scott as trustworthy individuals. Leandra plays fair in games, accepting outcomes with honesty, while Kylee remains truthful in all situations because she knows that honesty builds trust. Their understanding and practice of honesty have grown significantly since their earlier years.
By sixth grade, honesty becomes a defining trait of responsibility and leadership. James Boya exemplifies these qualities in the classroom, during competitions, and on the court. His fairness and dependability make him a respected role model.
Our seventh and eighth graders continue to uphold the importance of honesty. Olivia Seymour is known for her sincerity and thoughtfulness, earning the trust of both her peers and teachers. Cameron Naubereit is always upfront and direct, expressing himself in a kind and considerate way. In eighth grade, Charlie Weaver consistently tells the truth, even in challenging situations, and is known for her reliability and strong sense of responsibility.
Honesty is more than just a word at ILCS—it is a value we see in action every day. We are proud of these students and their dedication to truthfulness. Their honesty strengthens our school community and sets an incredible example for others to follow.
We couldn't have achieved this without your support. Thank you for being an integral part of our student's journey towards becoming trustworthy and responsible individuals.
Sincerely,
Mellissa Mulvey
